The ‘revolt’ from Conventional News Media and Conventional Medicine
A very interesting commentary dated Feb. 8th, 2007 was made on the “the revolt” from the ‘Conventional News Media’. Newspapers and Television news are on the run. The New York Times is suffering huge losses in readership and profits due to the power of the internet and the independent voices of people who are not cow towing to vested interests. - ’small dead animals- the roadkill diaries’
Katie the author of the blog quotes Sulzberger of the New York Times –
“Once upon a time, people had to read the paper to find out what was going on in theater. Today there are hundreds of forums and sites with that information,” he says. “But the paper can integrate material from bloggers and external writers. We need to be part of that community and to have dialogue with the online world.”
Katie’s comment on these points –
“And with that, reveals (like so many who argue the false premise that “blogs will never replace the mainstream media”) that he still doesn’t fully comprehend what is happening to his industry.”
Similarly ‘Conventional Medicine’ doesn’t really “comprehend what is happening to [its] industry” as the internet has freed people from having their information filtered by the vested interests of the Pharmaceutical Industry.
Katie’s comments – “The “external writers” Sulzberger sees are not competitors. They’re his industry’s former subscribers - media consumers no longer interested in recieving politically-filtered news from the bottom end of a one-way pipe, who no longer tolerate interference by self-appointed gatekeepers who view information as their exclusive property to frame, sanitize, analyze, and interpret as they see fit,
It’s not a war, Mr. Sulzberger. It’s a revolt.” (bold added)
Likewise, Conventional Medicine and the Pharmaceutical Industry “politically-filter[s]
information as their exclusive property to frame, sanitize, analyze, and interpret as they see fit,” to the detriment of people’s health by pushing drugs instead of safe and effective natural remedies used by Alternative Medicine practitioners.
As stated in my previous post in a medical journal article that says it all –
“The Medical Monopoly: Protecting Consumers or Limiting Competition?” and an MD’s comment: “the medical and scientific establishment…control politicians and the media” and in turn are controlled by the “international pharmaceutical industry”
As one medical journal author puts it “medical news is actually unpaid advertising”.
So the biased journalism “politically filtered” by the ‘Conventional News Media’ upholding the failures of ‘Conventional Medicines’ caustic pharmaceutical treatments is why they are losing market share. With the advent of the internet this has speeded their decline dramatically as well because word of mouth that ‘Alternative Medicine’ treatments work is spreading without the biased ‘filter’ of the bought and paid for Conventional News Media.
There is a real frenzy by the Medial Establishment (Conventional Medicine, Big Pharma,
and Government Agencies) to protect their market share. This is because reports in the Medical Literature showed that visits by Americans, who pay billions of dollars out of pocket to Alternative Medicine practitioners, was increasing dramatically and visits to Conventional Physicians was declining.
So the ‘revolt’ is afoot in Health-care as well.
